What is Reflexology?
Reflexology involves the application of manual pressure to precise points or areas of the feet, which correspond to specific parts of the body. The aim is to stimulate these areas and assist the healing powers you have within you.
In its simplest definition Reflexology is a foot massage, but in practice, it is much more: Reflexology involves the application of manual pressure to precise points or areas which correspond to specific parts of the body, to stimulate these areas and assist the healing powers you have within you. Using the thumb or forefinger to apply fine, deep pressure to appropriate reflex points, you can remove blockages in energy pathways and open the channel for natural healing. Reflexology has the power to promote and nourish an ongoing state of well-being.
Reflexology should normally be a pleasant and relaxing experience. Very few people are unable to tolerate a session, as it is not tickly and should not be painful. It’s not necessary to work so deeply or to cause pain in order for a treatment to be beneficial. Initially, there may be some tender reflexes (this is usually a pleasurable tenderness). This is part of the interesting aspect of a Reflexology, and is referred to as ‘blocked’ or ‘out of balance’, terms used in reflexology. They may correspond with issues and conditions that the client may have, or used to have. Experienced and sensitive therapists are able to feel changes in the feet such as a gritty sensation or crunching sensation. These are often cleared during a treatment.
History of Reflexology
The origins of Reflexology evidently reach back to ancient Egypt as evidenced by inscriptions found in the physician’s tomb at Saqqara in Egypt. The translation of the hieroglyphics is as follows: “Don’t hurt me.” The practitioner’s reply, “I shall act so you praise me.” We cannot determine the exact relationship between the ancient art as practiced by the early Egyptians and the Reflexology as we know it today. Different forms of working the feet to effect health have been used all over the ancient world. This form of healing spread from Egypt via the Roman Empire.
Much more than a foot massage
In its simplest definition Reflexology is a foot massage, but in practice it is much more: Reflexology involves the application of manual pressure to precise points or areas which correspond to specific parts of the body, to stimulate these areas and assist the healing powers you have within you. Using the thumb or forefinger to apply fine, deep pressure to appropriate reflex points, you can remove blockages in energy pathways and open the channel for natural healing.
Thai Yoga Massage
Thai yoga massage is based on the concept of invisible energy lines running through the body. There is constant body contact between the giver and the receiver, but rather than rubbing on muscles, the body is compressed, pulled, stretched and rocked in a rhythmic flow of movement. By working along the body’s energy (sen) lines this encourages the flow of energy and a deep state of relaxation, leading to the balance of mind, body and soul. Thai yoga massage is performed on a futon on the floor; both client and practitioner are dressed in comfortable clothing allowing ease of movement and flexibility.
Holistic Swedish Massage
Swedish massage improves blood circulation, increase the level of oxygen in the blood, aides the body in removing toxins, improves flexibility, eases tension and helps with pain management. Swedish massage is performed on a massage table, oils are used and the touch is deeply relaxing using a flowing movements.
Cranio Sacral Therapy
Cranio sacral is a holistic healing practice that uses a very light touch. This gentle approach is often referred to as, ‘Listening through the hands.’ The intention of a treatment is to facilitate the expression of the Breath of life and so enhance the body’s own self healing and self regulating capabilities. Practitioners perform the therapy by means of palpating and influencing the rhythmic movements of the cerebral spinal fluid.
Reiki
Reiki is a very simple , gentle and effective system of transmitting universal life-enegry through hands-on healing. As a means to encourage the natural healing process and restore a sense of well-being.

Manual Lymphatic drainage Massage
Manual lymphatic drainage (MLD) uses a light touch to move excess lymph and fluid out of the tissues and back into the lymphatic vessels. Although often referred to as a type of massage, MLD is very different from traditional forms of massage where deep pressure and faster strokes can be applied. MLD is much gentler and should feel as if the skin is being lightly stroked and stretched. It is very relaxing and MLD can be a beneficial treatment for many health conditions.

It is a facial massage with a specific and personalised technique, where manipulations of this massage, Shiatsu and lymphatic drainage are combined. It differs from other massages because it not only works the surface of the face, but focuses on the condition of the skin and subcutaneous muscles.
Helps rejuvenate and repair facial tissue by preventing and reducing the impact of the ageing process, improves blood circulation and lymphatic flow, eliminates toxins, reduces wrinkles, recovers facial muscle tone by stimulating collagen production and Elastin that improves the recovery capacity of skin cells, reflected in a smoother skin and a firmed face. It gives the feeling that the face wakes up, in fact, this massage is known as “face lift without surgery.”
Dien Chan
‘Dien Chan’ is a reflexology technique based on the modern occidental theories and the oriental philosophy.
Known as facial reflexology, Dien Chan was developed by Prof. Bùi Quốc Châu in 1980 in Vietnam. Based on a map of fixed points on the face and various reflexology schemes. It allows a wide variety of combinations, along with the different forms of stimulation offered by the tools used.
The method responds quickly and deeply to the treatment of many common disorders. Dien Chan is easily combined with other natural techniques and complements them.
Professor Châu abandoned acupuncture needles when he discovers that thanks to precise tools he managed to stimulate the self-regulation process of his patients.
Dien Chan is a natural therapeutic technique that is practiced in brief sessions, it is possible to find relief almost immediately, of pain and other discomfort. It offers excellent results in the treatment of migraines, the digestive system, circulatory system, nervous system . Excellent results also can be obtained in the treatment of muscle and joint problems.
Professor Bùi Quôc Châu, A Vietnamese acupuncturist, carried out a clinical trial on millions of drug addicts in Saigon. Due to the large numbers of his patients, he was able to test his theories and found some fixed points on the face, which affect our internal organs and some areas of the body. While stimulating these points, he discovered that these points are concrete regulators that affect some area of the body.
Professor Bùi Quôc Châu establishes a “point chart” and replaced his acupuncture needles with a detector that consists of a stem with a round top that doesn’t penetrate the skin. These fixed points on the chart are named “points bqc” after the Professor.
The Multireflexology – Dien Chan is the original method of facial reflexology.
